What are the details of this year’s festival?
The 39th edition of our festival, now known as VegTO Fest is being held September 21-22 at Nathan Phillips Square in downtown Toronto. The square attracts an estimated 1.5 million visitors yearly. With an area of 4.85 hectares (12.0 acres), it is Canada’s largest city square.It’s located very centrally, a short walk from two subway stops, a streetcar route as well as landmarks like the Eaton Centre, Yonge and Dundas Square. Driving in from outside the city? There’s a huge parking lot right underneath the Square.

Is the festival family and pet friendly?
Yes! Everyone is welcome at our festival. It’s 100% outdoors, but keep in mind that it may be crowded and noisy; we know not all dogs (or all humans) are fans of that.
How large is the festival this year?
This year we will have over 200 vendors, and are expecting approx 30,000 guests. Our new venue, Nathan Phillips Square is larger than our previous venue and we have space to grow.
Why did the festival move from Harbourfront Centre?
We were at Harbourfront Centre for over 30 years and we understand that to many people the venue is a big part of your VegTO Fest experience. But Harbourfront Centre is no longer hosting events like ours. We’re looking forward to evolving and welcoming everyone to our new larger, more central venue.
Are omnivores welcome?
Of course! VegTO Fest is for everyone; vegans, vegetarians, flexitarians, omnivores, and everyone in between. In fact, about half our attendees are not vegan, and we love that! Plant-based foods are for everyone, and we love sharing the best of vegan Toronto with the whole community.
How do I get involved with VegTO?
Membership with VegTO is an all-access pass to exclusive vegan deals and discounts at more than 80 locations across the Toronto area, exciting events, inspiration for vegan lifestyles, and insider information on all this veg in the Toronto area and beyond. Most of all, for just $25/year, you become a part of our growing community of passionate and compassionate members who support each other at all stages of their vegan journey. Imagine this... its 1985 and The Toronto Vegetarian Association just tucked this flyer into your mailbox. Today, VegTO Fest has grown to become one of the largest event of its kind in North America.
For 38 years, Veg Food Fest has been a beloved Toronto event. From humble beginnings with hundreds in attendance, we have witnessed remarkable growth, with over 35,000 attendees and 160 exhibitors in 2019.
The event has historically included a variety of programs such as cooking demonstrations, award-winning documentaries and conversations with animal advocates, experts in nutrition and best-selling cookbook authors. For VegTO Fest 2023 you'll discover we're adding the unexpected and multiplying the fun when it comes to education and entertainment.
We take pride in our commitment to serving Toronto. Unlike other veg event hosts, VegTO is Toronto-based. We live here, we work here and we understand you. Our grassroots goal has always been to connect local vegan businesses and not-for-profits with an audience that is embracing vegan living.
