We are so excited to re-introduce the Toronto Vegetarian Association as VegTO! We’ve grown a lot since we were founded in 1945 – and so has the vegan movement. We recognize it is time to change our name to better reflect what we do and who we serve.

In 2021, the Toronto Vegetarian Association (TVA) received a $40,300 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) to update its digital presence and adapt to the changing landscape caused by the pandemic.

In the US, black people are 3x more likely to be vegan or vegetarian than any other racial group. A recent study also found that 31% of people of color (POC) have reduced their meat consumption in the US, compared to only 19% of white Americans.
