As the second country to adopt a plant-based national food plan, Korea is committed to boosting the plant-based food industry as veganism continues to grow.

Buddhism was Korea’s state religion for a thousand years and this drove the advancement of vegetarian menus across the country. Not only that, but Korean meat dish recipes can be easily converted to vegetarian or vegan dishes.
Popular national dishes like bibimbap or gimbap can easily be prepared as vegan meals and are just as tasty!

The Encounter Korea Pavilion consists of four dedicated tent zones and a green zone where KTO hosts fun and exciting activities from vegan kimchi making to K-pop dance classes and even a Taekwondo lesson!

Learn how to make vegan kimchi and bibimbap with Chef Sang Kim
Chef Sang Kim is an award-winning fiction writer, TV Personality, public speaker, playwright, chef and restaurateur.
Chef Sang will not only be teaching you how to make these delicious and iconic Korea foods, but he’ll also be explaining the importance and history behind both dishes for an enriching and educational experience.
