Vegetarian Directory Updates – June 2015

Now Open   ApieCalypse Now Pizza & Snack Bar (735 Bloor St. W. @ Christie, 416-516-4555, www.eatveganpizza.com) is now open! The well-known vegan bakery has closed up shop at its Markam St. location and has taken over the corner of Bloor and Grace, just across from Christie Station. That’s the real beautiful part of this whole thing–it’s basically your vegan junk food dreams come alive. Vegan Corn Dogs… Vegan Doughnuts… Vegan Cheezy Garlic Bread… Buffalo Ranch Salads and Vegan Not-Chicken Caesar Salads.” As anyone who has had anything from Apiecalypse Now knows, they have mastered making vegan food taste rich and delicious, like nothing is missing. Years of experience go into making ingredients from scratch, including vegan cheese, mock-meats, and even garlic dipping sauce! “Our pizzas are done in an authentic pizza oven that never even one time has had meat in it. Also aren’t you tired of omnivores just sprinkling some Daiya on some crust and calling it vegan pizza?” Try pizzas like the White Walker with creamy garlic sauce, soy chicken and arugula,… Read More

That’s because vegan pizza options have been growing in Toronto for years, and have especially exploded in the last 18 months. It all started over a decade ago when Amato’s began selling vegan slices. Well before the days of Daiya Cheese, they simply omitted the cheese but not the flavour, and to this day they sell their… Read More
