Perks of the Job

Kathlene enjoying a plate of delicious food By Barbi Lazarus, Donor and Volunteer Resources Coordinator Yesterday was one of those days that definitely reminds me how lucky I am to work in an environment surrounded by amazing people, and oftentimes, wonderful food. If this is all in a day’s work, I might not need to plan for retirement after all. You may have heard of the Toronto Vegetarian Association’s Office Help Team. This group of volunteers comes into the office periodically to help with administrative tasks like mailing letters and preparing materials for outreach events. They’re a dedicated group who often save the day by coming in to help at the very last minute. To say thank you, we invited them in for lunch on a day when there wasn’t any office work to do. It was a fabulous way to spend the early afternoon, chatting with our volunteers about vacations, the upcoming bake-off, our journeys to vegetarianism, and of course, food. Care of Kristine Parrish (the eggplant collective) Being in an industry that values client service very highly, it is important for our company to provide breakfast and snack foods that can cater to a wide variety of tastes and dietary requirements.  That’s what is so wonderful about thelovemuffin bakery; it provides those who are vegan, celiac, or simply conscious of what they put into their body with a delicious alternative to conventional baked goods. The biggest crowd pleasers in our office are definitely the banana chocolate chip muffins, so moist and flavourful, and the mouth-watering peanut butter squares.  Leave them unattended for ten minutes on the kitchen counter and one will return to a plate of crumbs and some very satisfied co-workers!
