Vegan Supper Club Series: Voodoo Haggis

An Unusual Pairing from an Unusual Pair…
Who knew a playful handle used on an online dating site 8 years ago would spawn a beautiful partnership, a company, two kids and and one hell of a menu…

Inspired by this peculiar moniker, our Voodoo Haggis supper club is a fusion of Haitian and Scottish traditional foods in homage to both Chef Daniel & his partner Marie’s heritage.

The menu celebrates both Haitian Independence Day (January 1st) & Robbie Burns Day (January 25th).

Amuse Course: Voodoo Haggis; Chive Scented Neeps, Avocado Puree, with our Beloved “Haggis”, Fried Banan Peze, Scotch Bonnet-Mango and Robbie Burns Sauce
Second Course: …A Scotsman in Jacmel; “Scotch Egg Style” Fried Callaloo Makawoni Graten and Kidney Bean Puree with Pikliz and Scotsman Breakfast Beans
Third Course: Keys and Pipes; Humble Creamy Mayi Moulin Porridge and Scallion Tattie Scone
Main Course: From the Streets to the Bay; Haitian Riz Diri ak Djon Djon with Cock-a-leekie Sauce shoestring Tattie Chips and Ti-Malice Sauce
Dessert: Saorsa Libète; Raspberry Cranachan, Jus de Passion Whipped Custard with Pistachio Crumb and Spiced Toasted Oats
Muskoka Maple Coffee, Assorted Sloane Teas, along with Sparkling and Flat Water are included.

The event begins at 7pm and dinner will start at 7:20pm or when most of the guests have arrived.

No alcohol will be served onsite; if you choose to bring wine/beer, don’t drink and drive.

{About Vegan Supper Clubs}
We host a monthly themed Vegan Supper Club in our New Tasting Room located at 245 Jane Street.
What’s a Supper Club you ask? Think of it as an informal dinner party meant to encourage guests to mingle, share and celebrate food. Events are 19+, complimentary sparkling and flat water will be provided. Here’s a sneak peak of what to expect or check out our Supper Club Gallery.
Are they always Vegan? Yes. We want people to feel included in the discussion around food, culture and the arts and feel making these events vegan will allow more guests to participate. We also do special Gluten-Free editions a few times a year.

Just like an idea, acorns begin small with the hopes of becoming something big, strong and meaningful. This was the initial push behind Urban Acorn LTD. a Flexiatarian Catering company founded by husband & wife team Marie and Chef Daniel Holloway.

Inspired by art, music, and using food as a dialogue for social change, Urban Acorn wants to encourage people to broaden their understanding of food and each other with the hopes of building stronger communities.

Their mostly plant-based ‘Flexitarian’ approach to cuisine, allows them to seamlessly create menus to both omnivores and vegans. Their philosophy is simple, they believe food should unite, not divide people.
