Vegan Market Social Series: A Few of My Favourite Things…

February 9, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

As anyone in longterm relationship will tell you, date nights are fun, but finding and maintaining love while doing seemingly mundane tasks is truly exceptional! We’re taking about gazing in someone’s eyes while folding fitted sheets, humming while picking up the cat litter and of course taking romantic strolls down the grocery store aisle… your passion and love for one another has reached a new level once these activities have become the norm and yet for many, this sensible milestone goes unnoticed… until now.
In celebration of these silent touchtones we launching a new series called Market Social, a cocktail pop-up at Urban Acorn Market dedicated to celebrating our love of food and its abilities to bring strangers together. Set in our micro-pantry, this intimate evening will be filled with some of our favourite tasty bites and allow you to socialize with other food lovers. For our first Market Social, we thought we’d begin this series with a menu comprised of our most beloved catering items:
Welcome Drink & Grazing Station: Seasonal Alchemy Pickle Kombucha + curated vegan cashew cheese platter
Featured Canapés: Rosemary infused Yukon Potato Latkes with House-Made Pear Preserve, Cashew Risotto Cakes with Tarragon ‘Creme Fraiche’ & Haitian Accra; Black Bean Fritters served with Roasted Red Pepper ‘Ti Malice’ Sauce & Haitian Pikliz
Featured Small Plates: Curried Chickpea & Cauliflower Bake w/ Crisp Kale & Mint Chutney & Potato Gnocchi Roasted Beets and Toasted Hemp Seed with Blood Orange ‘Beurre Blanc’ and Micro Arugula
Pairing: Rosewood Süssreserve Riesling 2016 & Sandbanks Baco Noir

{About Vegan Market Social}
We host a monthly Market Socials in our storefront located at 1565 Dupont Street .

What’s a Market Social you ask? Think of it as an intimate and informal standing cocktail party in our market storefront meant to encourage guests to mingle, share and celebrate food. Events are 19+

Are they always Vegan? Yes. We want people to feel included in the discussion around food, culture and the arts and feel making these events vegan will allow more guests to participate. We also do special Gluten-Free editions a few times a year.

{About Urban Acorn LTD.}
Just like an idea, acorns begin small with the hopes of becoming something big, strong and meaningful. This was the initial push behind Urban Acorn LTD. a Flexiatarian Catering company founded by Chef Daniel Holloway and his partner Marie.

Inspired by art, music, and using food as a dialogue for social change, Urban Acorn wants to encourage people to broaden their understanding of food and each other with the hopes of building stronger communities.

Their mostly plant-based ‘Flexitarian’ approach to cuisine, allows them to seamlessly create menus to both omnivores and vegans. Their philosophy is simple, they believe food should unite, not divide people.
