Toronto Starch Solution Monthly Potluck Lunch – guest speaker Shoshana Chaim
January 15, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pmDonation
Based on Dr John McDougall’s book The Starch Solution, this low fat, whole foods, plant based (WFPB) way of eating centres on healthy starches such as whole grains, beans, lentils, peas, potatoes, sweet potatoes, winter squashes, parsnips, pasta, and so on, augmented with smaller proportions of green, yellow and orange (non-starchy) veggies prepared and served without added fat and eaten with a plethora of delicious, fat free condiments and sauces, in quantities that are satisfying. Feeling hungry or deprived is discouraged. No starvation or sacrifice required!
Join us for our monthly potluck lunch and an opportunity to hear a fascinating couple share their experience with being restored to health and wellness by changing their way of eating.
Shoshana Chaim is a Toronto-based nutrition consultant and host of The Plant Trainers podcast. She will be sharing her family’s experience in transitioning to a “planti-ful diet” and how the power of proper nutrition and lifestyle choices helped her husband and son overcome some serious health issues.
Be sure to check out the more than 150 podcasts on her website with plant- based experts, exercise and nutrition advice, and tips for finding local restaurants and products that are plant-based.
Come on out for a delicious potluck lunch and a chance to mingle with some new folks. If you need suggestions for what to bring, see Dr. McDougall’s website or fatfreevegan for recipes or feel free to bring a plate of cut up vegs or fruit. Please bring a copy of your recipe or list of ingredients so that we can all learn together about the food and people with food allergies can feel confident about what they are eating.
A small donation of $1 or $2 would be appreciated to help defray the costs to Don Heights Unitarian Congregation for the use of the space.
Parking is available and is FREE for this event. (Disregard the signs.)
