Stop the Yulin Festival
June 15 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pmFree
The rally to STOP THE YULIN FESTIVAL is taking place in front of the Chinese Consulate at 240 St. George Street, Toronto, ON, M5R 2N5 on June 15th from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm.
Over 10,000 to 15,000 dogs — many just puppies — are killed and consumed during the Yulin Festival. The Festival takes place in Yulin, Guangxi, China during the summer solstice. It begins on Friday, June 21st and will end on Sunday, June 30th.
The victims are raised in meat farms; vulnerable strays and household dogs, cats and other pets are also butchered at the Festival. These animals are abducted from their homes, their porches and backyards, and some are even taken while on walks with their families.
2019 will be the 4th year we stand together at the Chinese Consulate in Toronto to help stop the Festival and the dog and cat meat trade. It’s estimated that each year in China alone, 10 million dogs and 4 million cats will be slaughtered for the meat industry.
With each passing year, it is easy to get discouraged as the Festival, and meat trade continues, but we can’t give up. We have to stay strong and united to end the suffering and torture of these defenceless animals.
While not open to the public on weekends, the Consulate is watching. Last year the Consulate General was inside the building watching us protest, let’s show them we’re not going away.
Please stand with us and use your voice to support this cause.
We would also appreciate it if you would use social media to help bring attention to the rally.
