Eritrean Vegan Wine Dinner

Pero Restaurant is a true reflection of Eritrean culture and cuisine here in Toronto. It is a culinary culture based on sharing, and tonight, alongside owner Pero Berhane, we are pleased to lead you through a custom tailored menu of Eritrean delights with a focus on the vegan offerings that Pero is bringing to his new downstairs concept. U-Feasters will be the first in the city to taste a flight of brand new dishes, that highlight the depth of flavour that can be extracted by the humble vegetables, pulses and grains that are transformed through this ancient cooking style.
Wine pairings from Italy, Armenia and France by United Stars to compliment will also be served – the Italian influence in Eritrea goes back decades, and Pero will explain how wine drinking culture might be more prevalent in this East African country than you may think!
AND… to cap off the night, you’ll experience a traditional coffee ceremony and fresh popcorn to cap off an eclectic edible adventure.
This dining experience is perfect to share alongside great friends or make new ones, as eating together around the Ethiopian table is the truest mark of friendship and respect.
To add to this delicious meal, you’ll cap off your evening with a special Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony. Eritrea’s coffee ceremony is an integral part of their social and cultural life. Performing the ceremony is almost obligatory in the presence of a visitor, whatever the time of day. Don’t be in a hurry, relax and enjoy this truly authentic symbol of hospitality as the fresh coffee beans are roasted tableside, incense are burned and fresh popcorn is served alongside the aromatic brew.
