Discount Profile: Haven Plant-Based Eatery

Discount: 10% off  Veg Status: All vegan Where: 366 Bloor Street West Toronto was heartbroken when Vegetarian Haven closed last year. We at the TVA office lamented the missing Shanghai Noodles that were so delicious. And then we heard that Shing & Jack, the people who ran Vegetarian Haven, had new plans in the works! Haven Plant-Based Eatery opened on Bloor Street at Spadina at the beginning of this pandemic. They offer fast-casual bowls and snacks focusing on their made in-house vegan “meats”. Bowls can be made with a choice of a base, and one or two of the stir fry dishes. At time of writing, there are five mains and three bases, including the much missed Shanghai Noodles. My mother and I visited recently, and ordered two bowls, as well as some dumplings to start. Because of the pandemic, we took our food to go, and ate it in the car. Everything was warm and well packaged in cardboard containers. The shop has all the expected precautions you would expect, and they limit the number of people allowed inside at a time. The dumplings were warm and crispy, and there was a dipping sauce, which… Read More

November Veg Guide Updates

Happy November! It may have started snowy and gloomy, but there’s plenty of great new places to check out in the city this month, so get out there and eat something yummy! CASA Manila 879 York Mills Rd., Unit #1 In what we believe is the first GTA Filipino vegan menu, Casa Manila is offering a huge number of plant-based dishes! We enquired with the shop, and were assured that everything on that menu is vegan, so order tasty items such as Tofu, green beans, & eggplant adobo, and sauteed mung beans. They even have vegan key lime milkshakes!    Coven 681 Barton St. E Hamilton’s vegan shop extraordinaire is moving a couple of blocks south in January, to a shop that’s three times the size!  “Our new space is almost 3 times the size and will allow us to double the amount of items we carry, as well as add a significant amount to our bakery section, in addition we will have a hot bar, jewish deli-style sandwich menu, and so much more.” We can’t wait to visit their new digs on Main… Read More
