September Veg Guide Updates
Hi Everyone! Welcome to September, time for back to school, Veg Food Fest, sweaters, pumpkin spice, and open windows. It’s not exactly the same as normal, but like any other month, there’s a few great new vegan restaurants to check out!
199 Baldwin Street.
Kensington Market has a new hummus restaurant, and it looks great! Abu Hummus serves up hummus as a meal, loaded with toppings like cauliflower, falafel, fries, or mushrooms. Vegan options are clearly marked, and there’s a bunch of them, as you’d expect from a hummus restaurant.
Ghost Kitchen (delivery or pickup only from 380 Dundas W.)
This new Vietnamese spot is a ghost kitchen–a restaurant that operates on delivery platforms only inside another restaurant. But they make great Vietnamese food, if you live near Dundas and McCaul, or you want to have a picnic in Grange Park.
Pizzeria Du, Parka, Mugi, and others have banded together to form their own food delivery service! Order from these businesses from localEats to help businesses keep a bigger cut of the costs! They’re adding new restaurants soon, keep an eye out!
363 ½ Clinton St.
This waffle and ice cream place in Koreatown makes a few flavours of vegan waffles and ice cream. You can stuff them with ice cream or top them with coconut cream. They’re delicious!
North York, order on their site
There’s a new delivery vegan place in North York! Harlem Bodega makes all vegan Puerto Rican food for delivery. We ordered one of everything, and a couple of the imported Puerto Rican sodas and were not disappointed! Order extra of the bodega sauce for dipping the fries in—you won’t regret it! Harlem Bodega is delivery only, and they’re located in North York. You order on their site, and pay via PayPal.
4555 Hurontario Street, Unit C2, Mississauga
Hakka Chinese Restaurant in Mississauga has introduced a plant-based chicken, and they’ve made it into five different dishes! Check them out
Speaking of plant-based chicken, KFC has introduced a plant-based chicken sandwich nationwide! You can get it as part of a meal box with plant-based popcorn chicken and fries as well, and it’s pretty tasty. Their regular mayo is vegan, but the spicy mayo is not. Neither is the coleslaw–when we visited they gave us extra fries instead.
10 Temperance St
Upscale vegan chain Planta is opening a new restaurant in the financial district in September! Planta Cocina will offer Mexican-inspired food with the Planta twist.
Hogtown Vegan on Bloor
Sadly, The Hogtown Vegan has announced that their location at Bloor and Dufferin. But don’t despair, you can still enjoy their food at their College Street location, just down the street from the TVA office!
