September Veg Guide Updates!
Welcome to September! You know what that means; Veg Food Fest is a week away! We can’t wait to see you all at the Harbourfront Centre from Sept 6-8th to eat all your favourite things, but if you can’t wait for that, here’s what’s new and vegan in Toronto this month!
Square One, The Food District, 100 City Centre Drive, Mississauga.
Square One mall in Mississauga has a fancy new food district, and in it you can find Arvinda’s spice blends, and a chai bar. Make your curries and other cooking even better with one of their blends!
Various GTA locations
2-4-1 Pizza is the newest pizza chain to introduce plant based meats and cheese. They have pre-made options, but here at the TVA office we’re fans of their Detroit-Style deep dish pizzas with vegan cheese and meat! Give it a try next time you’re looking for pizza and aren’t in the neighbourhood of one of the vegan faves.
Various GTA locations
After what seems like forever, Starbucks is starting to roll out vegan foods. They now have a yogurt parfait available with fruit on the bottom, and granola on top! We’ve found it at a few locations around the GTA, and hope this is a sign of more options to come!
Prince Edward County
Priya Rao of What Priya Said has opened an all vegan vacation home in Prince Edward County! Terra is available to rent, but she’s also hosting cool vegan retreats on site as well, like the upcoming Harvest Hosting with Kira from Wandering Deli! Check out Terra if you’re looking for a vegan vacation!
4915 Steeles Ave. E.
Vegan Nantha is an all vegan Sri Lankan restaurant on Steeles East. They have dosas, curries, and more on offer, and they appear to do catering as well! Be warned, there’s no seats in the restaurant, so plan to have a picnic if you’re going there to eat!
2020 Veg Guide!
And, of course, launching next week at Veg Food Fest is the 2020 edition of the Veg Guide! We’re excited to share this with all of you! Here’s a sneak peek at the cover, which features food from some great Toronto restaurants: Parka, Fresh, and Il Fornello! Pick your copy up at Harbourfront Centre next weekend!
We’re sad to say that Kensington Market favourite Cosmic Treats has closed. If you missed their farewell week, not to worry, you can catch their ice creams and other treats at Veg Food Fest this weekend. We’ll miss their ice cream, their awesome cakes, and all-day breakfast.
It appears that Blossom Vegetarian in Richmond Hill is now closed. This all-you-can-eat veg buffet was a great spot, and we’ll miss it! Though we don’t know the full story with this restaurant, so fingers crossed that it opens again sometime in the future!
That’s it for this month, see you all at Veg Food Fest!
