Veg Guide Updates – March 2018
New Vegan Location!
Boon Burger (multiple locations, www.boonburger.ca) has a brand new location in Oakville! The new location is located at 497 Dundas St. W., and is Boon Burger’s fifth Ontario location (a fourth opened in Hamilton in early December). It’s no surprise that the 100% plant-based burger chain, which started in Winnipeg, is rapidly spreading across Ontario. Boon offers unbelievably scrumptious burgers and sides, all made in house from healthy, wholesome ingredients. There are over 20 varieties of burgers, as well as baked fries, poutine, pizza, soups and chili, and daily flavours of dairy-free soft serve ice cream. “Boon continues to sprout and we are so excited to spread the vegan goodness. Together, with the help of our existing partners as well as future partners, it is our hope to continue to offer food that eliminates needless animal suffering. We would like to set the bar for future establishments to realize that it IS possible to run a great business that reduces the footprint on the planet.” Visit Boon in Oakville or one of the other Ontario locations in Barrie, Guelph, Burlington, Hamilton, and visit the website for a complete menu. You can also follow each location on social media- just click the social media links in their Veg Guide listings.

The Planet Diner (118 Downie St., Stratford, www.facebook.com/pg/planetdiner) is a new, mostly plant-based diner opening in Stratford, Ontario this spring! Toted as “A place where herbivores can bring their carnivores”, the concept is to “reverse the current dynamic, which is 90% carnivorous and 10% herbivorous. The majority of our menu is 100% plant-based. Our goal is to have a spot everyone can dine together, and lore meat eaters into trying the tasty vegan options their neighbouring diners are enjoying.” The menu will feature unique, plant-based twists on comfort classics, such as “meat” and potatoes, shepherds’ pie, pizza, veggie pot pie, as well as salads like the Creamy Caesar Salad (pictured), and desserts like strawberry rhubarb pie with homemade, cashew ice cream. The only restaurant of its kind in the area, The Planet Diner is a great introduction to delicious vegan cuisine to an area which receives a huge number of tourists every year.
