It’s “smooth, creamy, delicious!” Cosmic Treats is designed to be a fun place to hang out for all ages. “Bring your kids, your family, your sweetheart or yourself to our fun filled space-themed restaurant or have a seat on our patio with a glass of wine or a banana split and watch the market go by!” Follow Cosmic Treats on Facebook and Twitter for opening details.
Sweet Olenka’s (4 Toronto locations, www.sweetolenkas.ca) has recently opened a Kensington location at 225A Augusta Ave. (416-521-7444) to add to their 3 other locations on Lakeshore West, Queen West (Parkdale), and in Etobicoke. Sweet Olenka’s is looking out for vegans, as there is a variety of scratch made, coconut-based ice cream flavours, as well as ice cream sandwiches, chocolate dipped treats, smores, and so much more- including amazing Vegan Praline Robots (pictured)! A few months ago, we reported that Boon Burger (114 Dunlop St. E., Barrie, 705-718-4193, www.boonburger.ca) was scouting Toronto for it’s next locations… Although the where and when of the Toronto locations are still in the works, we do know that Burlington will see a Boon Burger in Spring 2016! If you want a preview of what’s to come, head up to Boon Burger Barrie for some of the best vegan comfort food around- Burgers, chili fries, soft serve, milkshakes, not to mention some delicious salads too. Follow Boon Burger and Boon Burger Barrie on Facebook and Twitter, and keep checking the Directory Updates to stay up to date on these exciting openings!
New Ice Cream Sandwiches
Bloomer’s (873 Bloor St. W., 416-551-0532, www.bloomersto.com) now has ice cream sandwiches! “Blondie, strawberry basil, and mint chocolate ice cream courtesy of Pleasantville Creamery (@pxvxc) in between two of our dark chocolate fudge cookies. And yes, they’re entirely gluten-free.” It’s the ultimate summer treat! Find Bloomer’s on Facebook and Twitter for more delicious food updates. Ice cream from Pleasantville Creamery can also be ordered directly from their website, for delivery or pick up! Visit www.pleasantvillecreamery.com/shop to place an order!
New Health Food Store
Healthy Island (5 Bastion St., 647-344-6591) has recently opened up a new location in Etobicoke among the Lakeshore condos. Healthy Island features a wide variety of natural and organic specialty products, including a great selection of vegan food items. The store also has a juice bar, and a selection of to-go meals and desserts. Visit their original location downtown on Bastion (at Fleet St.), or if you find yourself further west along the waterfront, check out the new location at 78 Marine Parade Drive in Etobicoke. Follow Healthy Island on Facebook.
Sadie’s Diner & Juice Bar (504 Adelaide St. W., www.sadiesdiner.com) has very sadly closed as of June 28th. Sadie’s was a staple for Toronto vegetarians and vegans for the past 8 ½ years, with its delicious comfort foods and one-of-a-kind atmosphere… loved that wall of Pez. There is definitely a huge space in the heart of Toronto’s left by Sadie’s. TVA wishes all those involved with Sadie’s the best of luck in the future.
