Our 2014 Strategic Plan
A Message from the Executive Director
On behalf of the Toronto Vegetarian Association thanks for your interest in reading our latest strategic plan. We’re very excited to continue TVA’s work over the next five years to achieve our shared mission: to inspire people to choose a healthier, greener, more compassionate lifestyle through plant-based eating.
Over the past two strategic planning cycles, TVA’s capacity has grown enormously thanks to the generosity of our members, donors, and talented volunteers. TVA has grown from 1200 to 1600 members and support from our donors has grown, especially through monthly and major gifts.
With this greater financial stability, we been able to launch new initiatives and enhance core resources like veg.ca. We’ve also enhanced our volunteer engagement strategies as volunteer leaders have brought us new projects like Veggielicious and the Totally Fabulous Vegan Bake-off. Our staff team has worked hard to make the most of TVA’s resources. As a result, our Vegetarian Food Festival has grown from 25,000 to 40,000 annual visitors. We’ve also increased our outreach efforts to support and inspire more people each and every year.
In the next five years, we hope to build on this growth to achieve three goals. Our first goal is to raise our profile & influence so we can promote vegetarianism as widely as possible. Our second goal is to expand our membership and volunteer base to fully reflect the diversity of the Greater Toronto Area. Our third goal is to enhance TVA’s program offerings – our Vegetarian Directory, our Resource Centre, the festival and other event offerings – so that we continue to provide the support people need to sustain their commitment to plant-based eating.
Please read on to learn more about our strategy. If you’d like to contribute to the plan, please email me or call 416-544-9800 and I’d be happy to discuss opportunities to get involved.
