Why I’m Veg Week
The stories of Toronto’s vegetarians who they are and why they have chosen to be vegetarian-are shared through veg.ca, Facebook, Twitter and the local press. Well known personalities, chefs, activists, and everyday Torontonians are profiled to showcase the diversity of the local veg community and the many benefits of a plant-basesd diet.
If you’ve been riding the Toronto subway, you’ve likely encountered these images and this question: “Why love one but eat the other?” This provocative ad campaign was launched by a small group of Canadian citizens, with support from the Toronto Vegetarian Association, hoping to get people thinking about their food choices in relation to animal suffering. The ad series draws attention to the similarities between the animals we call “family” and the animals we call “dinner” and then exposes the shocking cruelty that Canadian animals raised for food face on today’s factory farms. This campaign will run on Toronto subways into early 2012. Visit www.beveg.ca for more information.
Veggielicious is the largest annual event of its kind! Restaurants in Toronto (and surrounding areas, so far, as far away as Niagara!) offer great deals on special vegetarian meals.
