Dogs of the Ganges Society came to be a couple of years ago when Vinyse and Derek were travelling in India. They were simultaneously in love and heartbroken by the 150,000 dogs that live on the streets of Varanasi, and left knowing they had to do something to help them. Since that first trip, they’ve hired their first staff member in India, and on a monthly basis, the team in Varanasi performs first aid for 100+ street dogs, and indirectly helps many more through their community training program. The program inspire kids (and adults) to have compassion for animals through presentations and outreach, and teach and empower locals to care for the dogs in their neighbourhood by providing workshops and first aid kits. www.dogsoftheganges.com
