In this hour and a half hour workshop, Young Urban Farmers co-founder Christopher Wong will teach participants how to save money and enjoy fresh, delicious produce by starting their own seeds now, through the beginning of the outdoor growing season.

Participants will learn how to select the appropriate seeds for their gardens, understand the differences between heirloom, hybrid, and GMO seeds, learn what to “direct seed” and what to start indoors beforehand, creating or purchasing the right soil mix, choosing supplementary lighting, and troubleshooting common challenges that may arise.

At the end of the workshop, participants will receive their own tray of seeds they have started during the workshop, a handout on seed starting tips, as well as a package of seeds to start at a later date.
