As a way of honouring Mother Earth, we will be hosting a very special “Earth Hour Evening of Mantra Meditation” on Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 6:30 – 9:30PM wherein sublime musical mantra meditation (Kirtan) is presented.
Kirtan is a form of devotional chanting whose roots go back over 500 years to India. It is a form of Bhakti Yoga (Yoga of Devotion) and has the power to open the heart. The singing is accompanied by musical instruments and rhythmic drumming and the audience is encouraged to participate by chanting and dancing. In its heartfelt expression kirtan can induce profound states of meditative bliss.
The evening will feature Candlelight Kirtan with minimal sound system, a talk exploring ancient eastern teachings of Bhakti Yoga and its ties with caring for Mother Earth, and between 8:30pm and 9:30pm, we will spend part of the time in a special meditation, and the other enjoying a free candlelit vegan dinner!
The event is free and open to all yoga enthusiasts, spiritual seekers, and vegetarian and vegan food lovers (donations are welcome). To RSVP, visit the website.
