Vegetarian Networker's Group

What are the goals of the VNG?

1. The primary goal of the VNG is to provide settings (virtual or real) wherein TVA members and their guests may comfortably share with others (a) information about their business activities, offerings and opportunities, or, on the other hand, (b) their needs as a potential client, customer, patient, etc.

An example of "a" would be a network marketer who promotes super foods and nutritional supplements from an MLM company, who wants to share information about these products and the company with other vegetarians.  While it may be inappropriate for one to do so at a TVA open house, recipe contest, or other TVA event, it would be perfectly appropriate to do so at a VNG meeting or online. Or, a vegetarian medical doctor who recently graduated medical school and just finished apprenticing at a holistic health centre elsewhere in the world, such as California, intends to open up a private general and family practice in Toronto and is looking for new patients.  She would be welcome to do so at one of our events or online.

An example of "b" would be an ex-butcher who became vegetarian and is interested in a new line of work that is compatible with his kinder, gentler cognitive framework.  He comes to a VNG event with an open mind and an optimistic attitude and meets a network marketer promoting super foods and nutritional products.  It seems like a good way to make money for him, so he takes the literature the network marketer is handing out and follows up by reading it, visiting the website listed on the brochure, and registering with the company under the sponsorship of the person he met at the VNG event. Or, a vegetarian is unhappy with her present non-vegetarian general practitioner M.D.  She could not be happier to find at the VNG meeting a holistically oriented vegetarian opening up a new medical practice less than five miles from her home.

2. A secondary goal is to help the TVA grow in terms of membership and funding by prominently displaying a TVA donation box and having membership application forms available for all guests and other non-members at every one of our events.

Tom Salsberg has written that he "...proposed the creation of this group because I (Tom), as a vegetarian network marketer, saw a need for it.  One of the things I was told when first getting involved with network marketing was that I could choose who I work with.  Well, I like to work with fellow vegetarians.  In order to sponsor vegetarians, I need to tell them about the products or services offered and the business opportunity available.  But when is an appropriate time and place to do so?  Up until now, all events and situations are "iffy" at best for marketing, and downright inappropriate sometimes.  Creating the Vegetarian Networker's Group provides a safe haven for myself and other network marketers to connect with fellow vegetarians about anything that calls to be promoted (whether there is a commercial aspect to their promotions or not)."

Another idea of the VNG Co-ordinators is the creation, establishment and maintenance of a searchable Directory of non-vegetarianism related businesses run by vegetarians, including everything from advertising agencies to zoology consultants.  If any vegetarian IT professional would like to help with this project creation, please send an email to networkers@veg.ca and let us know.

VNG Co-ordinator planning and discussion meetings occur over the phone and by email whenever needed.  There is room for up to five leaders on the co-ordination team.  If you would like to serve on the team, please send an email to networkers@veg.ca and describe your personality (strengths and weaknesses), accomplishments, and what you would like to do to help the VNG as a member of the co-ordination team.  All co-ordinators should be vegetarians and must be members in good standing with the TVA.
