About the Print Edition

[image: The 2009 Vegetarian Directory cover]

The next edition of the popular Vegetarian Directory will be launched at the 26th Annual Vegetarian Food Fair which takes place on the first or second weekend of September 2010 at Harbourfront Centre (the exact date will be posted closer to the event). This event attracts around 15,000 people.

Don’t miss out on this excellent opportunity to promote your business to vegetarians and the growing number of people cutting back on meat for environmental, ethical and health reasons.

Printed annually since 1993, the Vegetarian Directory is a concise full-colour guide to vegetarian-friendly restaurants, bakeries, caterers, food stores, organic produce suppliers, cooking classes, vacation spots, bookstores and organizations in the Toronto area. The current edition features restaurants and food stores listed alphabetically, along with neighbourhoods maps..

55,000 copies: After the Food Fair, the directories will be available, free of charge, from clear plastic dispensers in over 150 food stores, restaurants, bakeries, community centres, and non-profit organizations. We also distribute them through our office and information tables at community events. This past year we attended over 40 events, including the Green Living Show, Pride and many corporate and university health fairs, reaching over 80,000 people.

Reaching students: The Toronto Vegetarian Association strives to have directories included in first year university mailing kits. Last year 10,000 copies of a new student version of the Vegetarian Directory were prepared for first-year university students. These full colour postcards promote the full print and online editions of the Directory. See veg.ca/campus.

Cost: The cost for a basic two-line listing in the print edition is $80 (tax included). See application links above for details. The deadline for applications and payments for the next edition is Monday July 12th, 2010.

Don’t miss out on this excellent opportunity to introduce your business to an extensive, vegetarian-friendly audience.

About the Web Edition

Our main focus is the Toronto area. The web edition includes several pages starting with What's New, which is updated monthly.

Reach
Our website, veg.ca, receives 60,000 unique visitors per month and this number has been steadily increasing. The number of times people view the Vegetarian Driectory section depends on the page. Based on daily figures, the main page receives 36,000 viewing per year.  We also have a very high standing with the search engines. If you google "Toronto vegetarian" or Toronto vegetarian restaurants" we are at the top. And if you search for just "vegetarian," we are currently third from the top.

How it works
Everyone who purchases a listing in the printed Vegetarian Directory will receive a free linked listing in the web edition. You also have the option of adding a photo or logo and a longer description for an extra small.. Note: Restaurants that are entirely vegetarian may receive a basic weblisting for free.

We reserve the right to add additional content to website listings – generally this is to enhance listings with more information and commentary by visitors. Toronto Vegetarian Association is not responsible for individual comments. We will not print any comments that are offensive. Businesses have the option of responding to comments.

If you would like to be listed only on our website use our web edition form . If you have a place to recommend, please send us an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it with the name, address, phone, website, and short description or use the form on our Contact page.
