Upcoming Volunteer EventsTraining and Orientation Sessions Training SessionsVegetarian Nutrition Training for TVA VolunteersDo you ever get stumped by nutritional questions while tabling for the Toronto Vegetarian Association? Do you want to increase your knowledge about the benefits and how-to of adopting a vegetarian diet? Nimisha Raja of Evolving Appetites will host a special vegetarian nutrition information session for TVA volunteers. With 15 years of experience giving lectures and workshops, teaching cooking classes at Whole Foods, Loblaws and receiving training from the Phyisicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (makers of the Vegetarian Starter Kit), Nimisha is well equipped to provide you with the information and tools you need to feel comfortable staffing the TVA table at community events or the Vegetarian Food Festival, and answering any questions that come your way. Social and Recognition EventsVolunteer Day at Fresh City FarmsFresh City Farms is a social enterprise that brings makers and eaters closer than ever. Their food box delivery program includes produce grown right here in Toronto! They use a combination of backyard gardening on individual homeowners' properties throughout the city, as well as two acres and a greenhouse at Downsview Park. We invite you to get your hands dirty while meeting some of your fellow volunteers at our very first volunteer social at their Downsview Park greenhouse! Join us to help Fresh City Farms weed, water and harvest their crops. When? Friday, June 15th from 10 am to 12:30 pm Where? 70 Canuck Avenue in Downsview Park (Approximately 6 minute bus ride, plus 8 minute walk from Downsview subway station) Important note: This event is limited to a capacity of 15 volunteers. Volunteers MUST RSVP to volunteer@veg.ca. Given the limited capacity, we ask that you please be considerate of your fellow volunteers and do not RSVP until you are absolutely sure you will be available.
