I had a vegan thali with plain salad, rice, eggplant with cashew nuts, cauliflower, chickpeas, spinach (happily absent of cheese!), and plain roti. Many vegan items: channa garam masala, curried spinach, thalis, plus vegan pakoras and samosas and other savory snacks. ~~Located in the same busy Islington Ave & Albion Rd plaza as Brar Sweets. The Thali (rice, various curries, salad and choice of roti or nan) is $4.99. Note: The rice is no longer cooked with milk. Substitutions can be requested (e.g. pakora) when ordering the Thali. Samosa's are three for a dollar. Many other menu items. No eggs are used. The thali is served on a metal serving plate, but other items may be served on styrofoam, but you can request a real plate. Limited seating. ~~Opposite the Hindu temple (BAPS Shree Swaminarayan Mandir). They serve a daily Thali (complete meal) for $5. Take-out or dine in, but they have limited space for eating. Jan wrote to us: "Buried among ugly industrial warehouses, the discerning vegetarian will stumble upon Shayona Foods .
