As we go to print, winter is prolonging its stay across the province and may be dampening your spirits - if you didn't have so much to look forward to in the coming month, namely: Spring cleaning and vegan cookies invade the TVA Resource Centre! We're making space for new books by offering "oldies but goodies" cookbooks for $5 each or three for $10. Spend $20 or more and get a free sampling of cookies from the new arrived Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar. Plus, TVA super-volunteer and lecturer Nimisha Raja is hosting a new cooking series - Health Starts Here. If you're looking for super-nutritious and delicious fare that is easy to prepare (you don't need any cooking skills to tackle these recipes), make sure you sign up for one or all of the classes. Response to her last cooking series, held in October/November 2009, was unanimous: people wanted more. Don't miss out. This month, you can also entice your friends to take meat off their menu, at least on Mondays. Join TVA as it launches its first ever Meatless Monday campaign, which is already a huge success in the United States. A healthier nation awaits! If cabin fever has you in its grip after months of winter, wouldn't it be great to get away for a while but not have to worry about finding veggie fare on the menu? A new company called Veggie Tours can help you do just that. Find out more, and get packing! But if a trip to Starbucks is all you have time for at the moment, you're in for a special treat: the coffee giant is now offering vegan cookies. All this along with our regular features, our animal of the month profile, and directory updates to keep you in the know about what's happening where on the veggie scene in Toronto and beyond. Happy reading! Don't Miss These Upcoming Events! The TVA Resource Centre March Madness Book Sell Off and Cookies Launch will happen on March 27th. Nimisha Raja takes you around the world with her Health Starts Here Cooking Series. Find out more in the TVA in Action section or on Facebook.

Bring on the events! With our calendars reminding us of two holidays this month - Valentine's Day and Family Day, many people are brainstorming ideas for getting together with their loved ones and celebrating. And we've got more than a few suggestions for combining your desire to spend quality time with friends and family with your passion for a vegetarian lifestyle. The 2nd Annual Vegan Rock concert is happening February 4th, Rancho Relaxo is holding a special buffet dinner, and we're inviting everyone to join us in starting a new tradition for Family Day by hosting a vegetarian potluck. If that's not enough to keep you busy, Nimisha Raja's hosting another round of her Cancer Project Cooking Series, this time with four new classes! But February is cause for celebration not only because of the designated holidays, but also because of fantastic news for farm animals, as Toronto's Walk for Farm Animals announces record breaking fundraising, and the stats start to show fewer animals are actually being killed for food. This month, learn about chickens in Bonnie Shulman's Animal Profile of the Month, and kale in Karen Soper's Nutritious Food of the Month. Don't Miss These Upcoming Events!Vegan Rock will happen on Thursday, February 4th and we're starting a new holiday tradition by designating Family Day, February 15th, as Vegetarian Potluck Day.
