The Toronto Vegetarian Association is hiring for two summer positions.

Important note: These positions are funded by Canada Summer Jobs and are therefore only open to those who are between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment; and are Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Veg Food Fest Assistant: Logistics and Vendor Management

The Veg Food Fest Assistant will be responsible for assisting and reporting to the Festival and Events Coordinator during the overall curation of the 35th annual Veg Food Fest.

The Veg Food Fest Assistant will be the point of contact for vendors.  They will be responsible for clearly communicating information to vendors, answering vendor questions, and managing vendor logistics.

Under the guidance and alongside the Festival and Events Coordinator, the Veg Food Fest Assistant will be responsible for the delivery and execution of the vendor logistics management plan for the 35th annual Veg Food Fest.

The successful candidate must be available for a start date of Monday, June 10th, 2019, and available from September 6th to 8th, 2019.

This is a 16-week contract of 35 hrs/week, compensation $17/hour.  Deadline to apply is Friday, May 24th.

Community Outreach and Office Assistant

The Community Outreach and Office Assistant will be responsible for engaging with the local plant-based community by assisting with the planning and execution of the TVA’s outreach program and the Veg Guide. They will be responsible for assisting with the daily administrative tasks in support of these programs.

They will also be the front-line point for all in person and phone inquiries at the TVA office, of which topics include; adopting a plant-based diet, general, and Veg Food Fest. 

They will also assist with answering questions about the Veg Guide, performing follow-up calls with advertising prospects, and processing payments. 

An enthusiastic, proactive self-starter with passion, knowledge and personal experience in plant-based living will thrive in this position. This role calls for excellent organizational and planning skills, strong communication and customer service skills, and proficiency with computers.

The successful candidate must be available for a start date of Monday, June 10th, 2019.

This is an 8-week contract, compensation $17/hour.  Deadline to apply is Friday, May 24th.
