New Veg-Friendly Restaurants in the GTA
Berkeley North (31 King William St, Hamilton, 905-522-5858, www.berkeleynorth.ca) is a brand new West Coast inspired restaurant located on historic King William Street in the heart of downtown Hamilton. Berkeley North serves up unique, modern fare, including many vegetarian and vegan options. “Serving up dishes that are creative and approachable, Berkeley North’s sharable style of dining resonates with our vision of combining delicious food with empowered service, allowing us to go above and beyond to create an exceptional culinary experience for our guests.” The lunch and dinner menus includes options such as a Falafel bowl with pearl couscous, fried eggplant and garlic sauce, and Squash Salad with roasted pear and squash vinaigrette. Plus, there are always exciting specials that include vegan options, daily soups, as well as unique house cocktails and a wide craft beer selection. Open for lunch Mon – Fri, 12 – 3 pm, and for dinner Mon – Wed, 5 pm – 9 pm, Thurs – Sat, 5pm – 12am. Copper Branch (66 Baldwin St., Brooklin, 905-425-1066, www.copperbranch.ca) is a plant-based, healthy eatery with locations in Quebec, that is currently expanding into Ontario. Their first Ontario location has recently opened in Brooklin, just north of Whitby. “Our mission is simple: serve our community quality, whole foods and offer the world real food as fast-food for a change. We’re getting back to basics; serving healthy and wholesome foods and offering real food energy with the focus of promoting health and vitality, great taste, convenience, and responsibility. These are power food meals you can trust and feel great about eating.” Enjoy delicious power bowls, burgers, sandwiches, soups, and a daily breakfast menu until 11am. New Vegan Meal Delivery Service
UPBEET Foods (647-990-7591, www.upbeetfoods.com) is a new vegan meal delivery and catering service as of this past September. “Upbeet Foods is a Toronto based food delivery service, that was created to plant delicious vegan meals at your table. Our food is sprinkled with love and delivered to your doorstep in the greater Toronto area with a side of joy! Our goal is to leave you feeling wholesome and energized, so you can invest your time in living positively.” Choose from plans that include anywhere from 6 to 14 meals per week, for delivery or pick up at their Kensington Market location. The flexible plans allow you to choose from several different meal options, from a rotating menu every week. New Vegan Menu
The Friendly Thai (3032 Dundas St. W., 416-913-8120, www.thefriendlythaidundas.ca), the well-known Junction Thai location, now offers a separate vegan menu! In addition to their regular menu which contains some vegetarian and vegan options, The Friendly Thai now has a complete vegan menu upon request. The menu features a huge assortment of dishes, and if you’re not nearby, is well worth a trip to the Junction! Visit the Friendly Thai at Dundas W. and High Park Ave., and order delivery and takeout via Just Eat directly from their website.
Soup ‘n Such (2285 Dundas St. W., 416-916-4131, www.soupnsuch.net) will be officially closing as of November 17th. “It’s been 5 long years for us here at Soup ‘N’ Such…We love and appreciate all of you for contributing to the daily experience we call life, you all have made it one to truly relish.” There will be an event on the following day, Friday, November 18th, to celebrate 5 years of Soup ‘n Such.
