Millions of people worldwide come together each year on April 22nd to celebrate Earth Day. In an effort to make our planet cleaner, greener and more sustainable, today many organizations are urging people to pick up a broom, change their light bulbs, recycle or buy a hybrid car.

What if we told you that you could do more for the planet by eating a veggie burger than driving a hybrid car? That’s right: by going veg, we can reduce the impact of climate change, rainforest destruction and pollution, while saving water and other precious resources.

In fact, raising animals for food produces more greenhouse gas emissions than all of the cars, planes and other forms of transportation combined. (Click here to learn more about the environmental impacts of animal agriculture)

The Toronto Vegetarian Association works to inspire people to choose a healthier, greener, more compassionate lifestyle through plant-based eating. In the spirit of Earth Day, we have some fun, easy and delicious recipes for you from local chefs and TVA business members. Why not make the world a better place while enjoying a tasty meal with friends and family?
