Vegan Options at Omni Restaurants

Kathy writes: “I would like to let you know of a new Mexican restaurant in which I just ate lunch, called Comoencasa – Fresh Mexican Kitchen. (565 Yonge St., n. of Wellesley). The owner Carlos is very proud of his authentic Mexican cooking some of which is vegan. The Primitivo Tamalle is delicious and goes well with the cactus salad. both are staples of ancient, pre-European Mexican cuisine. There is also guacomole, salsa and many other staples can be made vegetarian or vegan. I was drawn in by the lovely heart with a V symbol on the glass door. Carlos is friendly and vegan friendly and says that he responds to vegan customers’ requests for vegan options. He uses separate utensils for his vegan products. The restaurant is only seven weeks old! I tried to convince Carlos to ditch the meat dishes but he said maybe with time…….”

Juices & Smoothies

“When you come to HighFields Country Inn & Spa as an Overnight Guest or as a Day Guest, you can order a flash frozen wheat grass juice which is grown outdoors in order to reach its full potential. The advantages of outdoor grown wheatgrass vs indoor/greenhouse grown wheatgrass are:

  • Root system grows 6 x deeper
  • Growth cycle is 10x longer
  • Chlorophyll levels are 50% higher
  • Simple sugars are eliminated
  • There are no detectable molds
  • The juice tastes dramatically better
  • There is no gluten in the juice”

When you head to HighFields, located close to Uxbridge, you can enjoy home cooked vegetarian and vegan meals during your stay.

Barbi writes: “When I walked into Dvine Gelato Lounge & Coffee Bar (2142 Queen St. E, 647-348-0202), I was just planning to get a drink, then I saw they had a whole bunch of stuff labelled vegan in their baked goods section and 5 flavours of vegan sorbet!
